Message	into the upper plenum. If they are tightened too much they act like little wedges and crack/break the plenum fitting. Get them hand tight then use a socket and do a 2-3 clicks to get them snug. As long as they can't be undone by hand they'll be fine. Good idea to apply some plumbers teflon tape to the thread fittings before the install too.
